Hello friends,
Alex here. First of all, thank you for booking your Christmas mini session with me. I am as thrilled and excited as I hope you are.
Let's go straight to the point. What to wear?
Of course, it's totally up to you. You have your own unique style, taste and preferences. What looks good on one person would be a big no-no for another. Choose what makes YOU feel confident and comfortable.
Now, there are a lot of articles on Google that will do a good job educating you on how to choose a family outfit for a Christmas photoshoot. Here are a few of my favorite link recommendations.
Feel free to check them out for overall guidelines and ideas. Understanding you might be busy, here is also a quick recap.
Choose coordinating, not matching outfits. If everyone is wearing the same exact outfit it might look funky and it makes it difficult for personalities to shine.
Pick two main colors. Then fill in with other neutrals.
Avoid competing patterns, logos, and graphics. Less is more.
Consider the background. You don't want to blend in with it.

As for my particular backdrops, for the Rustic Barn Door I would suggest lighter or brighter colors - bright red and green, pastels. Think knit sweaters and jeans or buffalo plaid and jeans. Comfy and simple.

Cozy Fireplace Backdrop calls for darker colors. Avoid white and beige as your main palette. I would recommend forest green, wine red, navy blue. I personally am a big fan of velvet and corduroy. They photograph very well. In addition, polka dots and sequins has always popped. Christmas pajamas would be a hit. Again, I would recommend coordinating, not matching pajamas. I have found success in parents wearing one pattern, and kids - the other.
I hope this helps! I look forward to meeting you and your family at our Christmas Mini Session.
Love,
Alex.
